From today onwards we r going to celebrate Sarannavaratri (Devi navaratri) festivals. We celebrate this festival for 10 days. This festival symbolizes the fight b/w good and evil and the victory of good over bad. The final day of this festival is called Vijaya Dashami because on that day the Goddess killed the Mahishasura. In Eastern n Noth Eastern States they celebrate Durga Puja n worship Maa Durga. In some places They celebrate Ram leela aslo because on that day Lord Shri Rama killed Ravana n won the battle.
In South India in some states they decorate their houses n arrange all dolls n statues of mythological characters in their homes called Gollu/Bommala koluvu. n worship n celebrate. In Telangana state they keep Bathukamma n decorate with beautiful flowers n prepare some special sweets n sing special songs n dance around those idols in the evenings.
In various places we celebrate in different ways. But the main purpose of this whole celebration is the victory of good over evil. I pray the Goddes gives us all the happiness n fulfills our wishes n showers her blessings on us.
