Multi talented n great personality Bhanumathi

Today when I was browsing, someone has sent this msg which I wanted to share with all of u.  This is about a multi talented great personality of all times Smt. Bhanumathi Ramakrishna.  I was always fascinated to know more about her whenever I hear some praises of her from my father n his generation people.  My mother was a great fan of her n she was able to meet her in person n talk to her.  When ever I watch a movie r hear a song of her, I simply become awestruck wit her talent.  Such an accomplished lady with an abundance of talent.  the great thing about her is she was able to achieve all of it in those times when the females were looked upon by the society n ave no importance at all.  This article made me once again remember the great lady n appreciate her talent.

Over the last few weeks, most of the Bollywood news has been focused on one lady, a certain Kangana Ranaut. Every media outlet keeps going on and on about how she has taken the industry by storm, how she is breaking barriers and how she is destroying the male domination that is the Hindi Film Industry. Most, forget it, all of the media is calling her the Wonder Woman of Indian Cinema.

Well, Bollywood people, South India beat you to even this by about 60 years.
Meet the first wonder Woman of Indian Cinema, Bhanumathi.

Starting her career at the age of 13, Bahumathi was an actor par excellence, a singer beyond compare and a brilliant dancer. She was one of the first actresses to play roles with negative shades, first to sing her own songs and choreograph her own sequences. She even chose her own "heroes". And she was doing this in 1959.

She was one who gave big breaks to not one but 4 doyens of South Indian cinema, in two different languages. Akkineni Nageshwar Rao, Nt Rama Rao and MGR owe a lot to her. In fact ANR and NTR used to be mortally scared of this lady. She used to command them around like a puppeteer. She was the only cinema person who called MGR by his name. And she was the only one, for whom he stood up. (By standing up, i didn't mean the metaphor for defending a person, but literally standing up when she entered, standing up).

Bhanumathi was the first actress in India (Probably the world) to insist on equal pay in the film industry and get it. She was also the first actress in Indian cinema to play dual roles.
This is with her acting. Now to her other talents.

She was one of the first female music directors in India. Most of the time, she used to score music for her movies. She was also the first person, of either genders, to direct a movie in three languages, simultaneously. She was the first person, in India, to make a movie, fully with kids. And she was, is and probably will be, the only female movie studio owner in India.

And on top of all this, great mass of talent and awesomeness, she was also a Sahitya Awardee for her Telugu novel "Attagari Kathalu".

Bhanumathi was a emancipated woman before woman emancipation was a thing. She exemplified woman power before people even believed a woman could have powers.

Our idea of a wonder woman today, is a cinematic character created by an American. I feel sad that we forget we actually had a wonder woman in our midst. And, most importantly, she was real.
